Favorite Dom/sub BDSM Romance Books
See a more updated list in What to Read After Fifty Shades of Grey
I love me some alpha men. I love a man who can take control in the bedroom. I like like to play in the bedroom and get fairly kinky. But I really enjoy reading about the more intense Dom/sub relationships. The ones that are full-time and/or the ones that are in clubs. Before I read Fifty Shades of Grey, I liked books where there was a little bondage and spanking, but since reading that series, I was encouraged to explore further into the genre. I still prefer the “lighter” BDSM. I always prefer romance with a “Happily Ever After”. Some of the BDSM books out there are way too much pain and not enough love. I go for the story, not the actual sex scenes (though I usually don’t mind them ;-o ) So here is my list of favorite Dom/sub romance books and series with some BDSM elements. (Some might just have the D/s relationship, others may have more spanking and flogging).
At the top of any list in this category has to be Cherise Sinclair. This author writes romantic, erotic books with lots of BDSM, perfect alpha heroes, and nothing too over-the-top raunchy. She is wonderful at explaining how a D/s relationship should be. Her books also have a good amount of suspense and an interesting story. They aren’t all about the sex at all. Another thing to love about Cherise Sinclair is that her subs are never perfect and are often on the heavier side. She has two series I especially love:
Club Shadowlands is the first in the Masters of the Shadowlands series (see my reading order here) by Cherise Sinclair
Master of the Mountain is the first in the Mountain Masters series (see my reading order here) by Cherise Sinclair
Sylvia Day has the Crossfire series that has a Dom/sub relationship without the S&M. It is very similar to Fifty Shades of Grey with a rich powerful Dom.
RK Lilley has a totally hot Dominating billionaire with his very own floor for his dungeon. Check out the Up In The Air Series.
The series is complete (and awesome).
Kallypso Masters writes great books about a group of ex-marine Doms who open a fetish club and we follow along as each falls in love.
The Inside Out Series by Lisa Renee Jones features all sorts of Doms. Described as Fifty Shades of Grey meets Basic Instinct, this book had everything from mystery and intrigue to BDSM.
Yum….Ethan Blackstone…..Dominating, and so sexy.
Naked (The Blackstone Affair) by Raine Miller. See my review here. All In (The Blackstone Affair 2) even has the man’s POV. (See my review here) See the Blackstone Affair series reading order here. Kristen Ashley writes amazing books with Alpha Men and amazing heroines. Though all of her men are dominant alpha males, I won’t include them on this list because they aren’t really “Doms”. But click on the Kristen Ashley Category to check her out. She recently came out with a series that does fit this category, and I love it:
Knight (The Unfinished Hero #1) by Kristen Ashley (See my review here). A lot of people who LOVE Kristen Ashley (her books are like crack) don’t love this one as much as her others, but I still really loved it. See the entire Unfinished Hero series here. ALL of them have a dominant hero.
Silly me, we can’t forget the ever-present Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James!
Tiffany Reisz writes BDSM Erotica. While they may not necessarily be Romance, many of the shorts in the Original Sinners Series are. This is a little more hard core, and I must say, this lady can write!
This one is a little more hard core…not that hot, but very much BDSM. Great series.
Slave (Finding Anna) by Sherri Hayes
The Sinners on Tour books by Olivia Cunning aren’t necessarily BDSM, but there is some HOT bondage scenes and lots of other kinky fuckery, so it’s definitely worth a look. There is a book with a Domme in the series as well.
Shayla Black’s Wicked Lovers series is well known. I enjoyed the first book, but found it a little expensive since I didn’t LOVE it, but it needs to be included here.
The Blue Jeans and Hard Hats series by Lissa Matthews is about a group of handyman Doms. Light reading and HOT, they were fun reads. I only read the first two so far, I can’t vouch for the others.
Beth Kery writes some great dominating men:
This serial novel is about a mega-rich Dominant and an innocent virgin, this series is tailor made for the after Fifty Shades fans.
Lainey Reese wrote a book called A Table for Three that has one woman and TWO hot sexy Doms!
The Comfort Series by Annabel Joseph is on the list. I didn’t love the first one, but the second two were much better. Though I liked this series, they were in the 3-4 star range for me.
Very similar to Bared to you by Sylvia Day:
Release Me by J. Kenner

I have read a lot more BDSM books than these, but these are the best ones (3.5 stars+) I have read. Many are a little to dark and depressing for me. Since I like my books with an HEA, and I don’t want there to be too many emotional scenes to interrupt the HEAT, so I will only recommend the ones that have a good story, a good ending and some hot kinky fuckery!
Other books that come highly recommended that I haven’t read yet are:
